What are the Equip Seminars?

In Ephesians 4:12 the Bible says that God gives the church shepherds and teachers “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” The purpose of the Mercy Hill Equip Seminars is to provide biblical and theological teaching to equip everyday Christians to live out their faith in daily life.

What are people saying about Equip?

“I’ve enjoyed Equip because of the opportunity for in depth study, practical training, and the blessing of learning from pastors and other leaders. I know I need to be in the Word more, and this equipping increases my yearning and my understanding! The added benefit of connecting with others across all three campuses increases the community closeness I love at MH.”

Elizabeth Underwood

“I think of the Equip Seminars as a way of equipping Christian soldiers with the weapons we need to continue the good fight well. It meant the world to me and gave me great spiritual insight.”

Jonathan Kerr

“The Defending the Faith Equip class was a class that truly reinforced my belief and strengthened my knowledge. It was incredibly insightful and educational. Jason is a brilliant teacher and thinker. His method of teaching was phenomenal. He presented all evidence, arguments, and logic in a way that left very little room for rebuttal. One of the most exciting parts of this Equip class was how I learned that as we advance in science, the arguments against a divine creator are getting weaker and weaker. I loved every session of the class. It will help anyone with building a scientific foundation of fact for reasons to believe that God is real and that the Bible is the Word of God.”

Fredd Reyes

“Sometimes people will ask, ‘What’s the next step,’ or ‘how do I get to the next level in relationship with the Lord and understanding of the Bible?’ Equip is it. It allows us to learn and grow in ways and areas that we may not be able to without direct instruction. We have a great resource in the leaders, elders, and pastors here at Mercy Hill, and Equip allows ALL of us to access that wealth of knowledge and understanding.”

Walter Underwood

“Equip Seminars are encouraging and inspiring. We enjoy the biblical, focused teaching which equips and empowers us to live out a gospel-centered life.”

Seminar Description:
While sharing the gospel should be the easiest thing in the world for Christians to do, it is often one of the hardest things we’re called to. There are many awkward (and maybe even heated) conversations that lay in the path of one who is committed to asking others to place their faith in Christ and trust his life, death, and resurrection for their salvation. Christians need to be equipped with tools, opportunities, and models for sharing the gospel. This seminar seeks to provide these things so that instead of fearing gospel conversations, we might be the ones who joyfully start them.

What if you knew that you had one of the most important jobs in the world? The reality is if you’re a parent you do. The Bible is clear that parenting is one of the greatest callings and responsibilities that God can give a person. And yet, some of the most rewarding things in life are by far the hardest; parenting is no exception. This seminar will equip parents and future parents to know what the Bible says about parenting and what God’s expectations are for parents.  Furthermore, if you’re looking for practical, every-day-use parenting advice for all stages of parenting (little ones to teens), we’ll see how the Bible is rich with just such wisdom.

We all have opportunities to counsel, and we all need counsel from time to time. The opportunity to walk with a friend through a significant trial and season of suffering is counseling. In this seminar, we plan to equip you with a basic biblical paradigm for providing caring, Christ-centered counsel. If you want to become better equipped to care for a friend, a family member, or a brother or sister in Christ, this would be a great seminar for you. If you are a community group leader, then you are on the front lines of providing care and counsel in the life of our church, and this would be a great seminar for you.

Western civilization is in the midst of a cultural crisis when it comes to marriage and the family. Unfortunately, the church has also been affected by this crisis.
