Christmastime is filled with tradition. Some of this tradition is just for the sake of fun, and other bits have skewed what the real story of Christmas is. Here’s a very interesting blog by President of Reformed Theology Seminary—Charlotte, Michael J. Kruger, called “5 Popular Misconceptions about the Christmas Story.”
This weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), Mercy Hill is hosting our Christmas services downtown at the Carolina Theater, and the goal is simple—proclaim and celebrate the true story of Christmas. Paul says in Romans 10: “. . . faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ” (v. 7). The Holy Spirit uses the message about Jesus to penetrate our hearts and to grow faith in us, if not bring us to faith for the first time. This is why we want our Christmas services to be centered on Jesus and how he is the hope and salvation of the world. We want to go back to the basics—the basics that bring rescue from our enemies, a renewed relationship with God, and true joy. So, please come join us!
